Money transfer is the service customers ask for most at a banking counter: a worker sending wages home, a parent paying a hostel fee, a shopkeeper paying a supplier. DigiKhata – Fund Transfer on the Payonclick app gives your shop a fast, KYC-backed way to do it. The customer gets a DigiKhata wallet in their own name, you load it against the cash they hand you, and the wallet sends the money to the beneficiary's bank account by IMPS. This guide walks through every screen.
What DigiKhata Fund Transfer is
DigiKhata is a full-KYC prepaid wallet (a PPI, or prepaid payment instrument) issued to your customer by a PPI issuer authorised by RBI. Because the wallet is full-KYC, RBI's rules allow it to send money to bank accounts. On the Payonclick app the whole flow sits on one screen, so the customer never needs to install anything.
Any bank
Send to savings and current accounts at any bank in India, chosen from a searchable list of over 1,400 banks.
IMPS with UTR
Transfers go by IMPS, and almost all are confirmed with a bank UTR within seconds.
₹100 to ₹50,000
Per transfer, within the customer's remaining wallet limit, which the app shows before you type the amount.
One-time KYC
A new customer completes KYC once. After that, a mobile OTP is all they need.
Pay from either wallet
Pay from your Main wallet or your AEPS wallet. The app remembers your last choice.
Web and app
The same flow on the Payonclick web portal and in the Android app.
DigiKhata Fund Transfer is open to every Payonclick retailer. Find it under Services → DigiKhata – Fund Transfer.
Step by step at the counter
Customer's mobile and OTP
Enter the customer's mobile number. The customer reads out the OTP from their phone, which opens a secure session for that customer.
One-time KYC (new customer)
The customer agrees to the eKYC consent, then verifies with an Aadhaar OTP or a fingerprint on your RD scanner. Next comes the PAN, and the DigiKhata wallet is opened.
Add the beneficiary
Pick the bank, check the IFSC (most banks fill it in automatically) and enter the account number. Type the account holder's name, or tap Get Name to fetch it from the bank (a small verification charge applies only when the name is found).
Verify the beneficiary
Enter the OTP sent for the new beneficiary. A short cooling period follows, and the countdown shows on the Send button.
Send the money
Enter the amount, choose your Main or AEPS wallet, then enter the customer's OTP and your TPIN.
Hand over the receipt
The receipt shows the amount, the beneficiary, the status and the bank UTR. Print it or share it on WhatsApp.
The customer can't find their PAN card? Tap Get PAN in the PAN box. It looks up the PAN linked to the Aadhaar that was just verified, and only a masked PAN shows on your screen. A small fee applies only when a PAN is found.
What happens to the money
When you send a transfer, the app moves money in two steps that you don't need to manage yourself:
- It loads the customer's DigiKhata wallet with the amount needed, debited from the wallet you chose.
- The DigiKhata wallet sends that amount to the beneficiary's bank account.
If the customer already has a balance in their DigiKhata wallet, for example from an earlier transfer that failed, the app uses that balance first and debits you only the difference. Before you confirm, the screen shows how much comes from the customer's DigiKhata wallet and how much from yours.
If a transfer fails or stays pending
Most transfers finish in seconds. When one doesn't, here is what to tell the customer:
- Failed transfer. The amount stays safe in the customer's DigiKhata wallet, and the receipt says so. Your service charge for that transfer comes back to your wallet. Next time the customer comes in, that balance is used first, so you don't load it again.
- Pending transfer. The bank hasn't answered yet. Tap Check Status in the history, or wait: the system checks pending transfers automatically. Never send the same payment again while one is pending.
Our guide to pending and failed transactions explains the same rule across all services.
Limits to know
DigiKhata is a full-KYC prepaid wallet, so RBI's rules for full-KYC PPIs apply, and the issuer may set lower limits:
- Per transfer: ₹100 to ₹50,000, within the customer's remaining limit shown in the app.
- Monthly transfers: RBI allows up to ₹2,00,000 a month to each beneficiary the customer has registered.
- Wallet balance: a full-KYC wallet can hold up to ₹2,00,000.
If an amount is above the customer's remaining limit, the app tells you the maximum before anything is debited.
Keep your customers safe
- The OTP belongs to the customer. Ask them to read it out from their own phone. Never use your own number for a customer's wallet.
- Check the beneficiary name. Use Get Name and read the bank's name back to the customer before you add the account, especially for a large first transfer.
- Beware of "urgent transfer" requests. Customers are sometimes pushed by fraudsters to send money quickly to strangers. Our fraud safety guide lists the warning signs.
